Rules

Overview

DraftTheTour is a fantasy golf game where you draft PGA Tour pros before each tournament and compete against your league. Play a single tournament for a one-time event, or build a full season schedule and compete for weekly and season-long prizes.

Leagues

  • A league can have 4 to 12 teams.
  • Each team drafts 4 to 8 golfers per tournament (set by the league creator).
  • Leagues can be set up for a single tournament or a full PGA Tour season with multiple events on the schedule.
  • Leagues are invite-only — share your league code or QR code with friends to join.

Drafting

  • A fresh snake draft is held before each PGA Tour event.
  • Snake format means the pick order reverses each round (1-12, then 12-1, then 1-12, etc.).
  • Draft order is randomized Saturday at noon ET before the tournament begins. An email notification will be sent with your draft position.
  • The draft starts Monday at 8:00 AM ET — make sure your team is ready.
  • Each pick has a 4-hour timer. The clock only runs during active hours: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM ET. It pauses overnight and resumes the next morning.
  • Each team picks one golfer per round until rosters are full.

Scoring

  • Your team's score is the combined score-to-par of all your golfers.
  • +1 point per stroke under par, -1 point per stroke over par.
  • The lowest combined score wins the week.

Missed Cut Penalty

  • If a golfer misses the cut, their score is penalized through progressive duplication.
  • Their Round 1 score is duplicated as their Round 3 score.
  • Their Round 2 score is duplicated as their Round 4 score.
  • This effectively doubles their 2-round total over 4 rounds.
  • Duplicated scores appear in red in the standings.

Pre-Tournament Withdrawals

  • If a drafted golfer withdraws before the tournament begins, the affected team is notified and given a window to manually pick a replacement from the undrafted players still in the tournament field.
  • The replacement window stays open until Round 1 tee off.
  • If no replacement is selected in time, the system will automatically assign the highest-ranked available player (by Official World Golf Ranking) who has not been drafted by another team.
  • The system checks for pre-tournament withdrawals twice daily (morning and afternoon) and once more at the start of Round 1.

Mid-Tournament Withdrawals & Disqualifications

  • If a golfer withdraws (WD) or is disqualified (DQ) during the tournament (after Round 1 has started), a penalty score is applied. No replacement pick is available.
  • For withdrawals (WD), the penalty score equals the worst 72-hole score among all players who completed the tournament, plus 2 strokes.
  • For disqualifications (DQ), the penalty score equals the worst 72-hole score among all players who completed the tournament, plus 4 strokes.
  • This penalty replaces the golfer's actual partial score for team standings calculations.
  • Withdrawn players are marked with a WD badge in the standings.
  • Players who miss the cut are not affected by this rule — the missed cut penalty applies separately.

Tiebreakers

When two or more teams finish a tournament with the same total score, tiebreaker rules depend on the event:

  • Regular Season (all tournaments except TOUR Championship) — Tied teams split the FedEx Cup points and earnings evenly. The points and earnings for all positions the tied teams span are averaged and awarded equally to each team. For example, if 2 teams tie for 1st place, they each receive the average of 1st and 2nd place points/earnings. If 3 teams tie for 2nd, they each receive the average of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place values. The next team after a tie group starts at the position after the group.
  • TOUR Championship— There is no splitting. Ties are broken by comparing each team's best 3 individual golfer scores (lowest combined score-to-par wins). The team with the lower total among their top 3 golfers is ranked higher.

Season Standings

There are two season-long leaderboards:

  • FedEx Cup Points — Teams earn points based on their weekly finishing position. Points vary by tournament type (majors award more than regular events).
  • Earnings— Prize money accumulated across all tournaments, based on the league's earnings distribution settings.

TOUR Championship

  • The TOUR Championship is the final event of the season.
  • Only the top 5 teams in the season-long FedEx Cup points standings qualify to draft and compete.
  • All tournaments after the TOUR Championship are excluded from the schedule.
  • The TOUR Championship winner takes home the biggest FedEx Cup points payout of the season.
